PARKSVILLE NEWCOMERS' ALUMNI CLUB
ABOUT US
If you have been in the Parksville Newcomers' Club for two or three years and are wondering what you could expect if you were to join the Parksville Newcomers’ Alumni Club, or if you are just browsing our website – read on to find out what we do and a bit about how we do things.
We have all recently moved to the area and need to make new friends and learn about our new surroundings. Consequently, the purpose of the Club, as stated in our Constitution, “shall be to enable graduates from the Parksville Newcomers’ Club to continue to associate with each other through social and special interest activities”. Couples, singles, old and not so old, male and female, are all welcome to share in the activities that we offer.
The only source of new members for the Parksville Newcomers’ Alumni Club is those graduating from the Parksville Newcomers’ Club each spring. We have an elected Executive to facilitate the general operation of the Club and help organize and harmonize the various activities. Each activity has one or more appointed coordinators.
We encourage new activities and one-time special events. We also encourage activities that draw us to other areas of the Island so that we get to know more about our new home. We always welcome new suggestions, activities, and your active participation.
Our monthly meetings are presently held in the hall of St. Columba Church the third Thursday of the month (September to November & January to May) at 7:00pm. Membership dues are $10.00 per person per year, starting in September.
We hold elections for a new executive at our Annual General Meeting in May. The Board consists of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Activities Director, and Publicity Director.
If you are thinking of joining us when you graduate from the Newcomers' Club – welcome – we need you, your input, your ideas and your help to sustain this vibrant group of approximately 200 fun-seekers!
For further information, please call Mary, our President, at 205-248-9130 or Gillian, our Treasurer, at 250-248-2186.
