Welcome to the Parksville Newcomers' and Alumni Club

Welcome to the home page of the Parksville Newcomers' and Alumni Club. Some areas of this new web site are still under construction. Please check back regularly to find more information.

We encourage all newcomers to the Parksville and greater Oceanside area to join us and participate in the many and varied activities offered by the Club. We provide an opportunity for newcomers to meet others in friendly fun-oriented social environments. Members have access to lots of useful information about our community from guest speakers at our regular meetings, along with information packages.

NOTE: Our regular meetings are normally on the first Thursday evening of each month. Please Note: Because of the Labour Day weekend, our regular meeting for September will be held on Thursday, September 9 (rather than September 2). Click here to view the announcement for this meeting, including the speakers who are scheduled.

Membership information is available from the link on the left. Membership is open to newcomers of all ages, singles and couples, who have lived in the area for less than 5 years. After 3 years in the Newcomers' Club, members "graduate" to the Alumni.

The Parksville Newcomers' Club and the Parksville Newcomers' Alumni Club share several activities. Members of both groups are welcome to participate in these shared activities. Please click here to access the pages of the Parksville Newcomers' Alumni Club.

At our January 7 General Meeting, Aaron Dawson, Parksville's Emergency Services Coordinator, gave a very valuable presentation on emergency preparedness. There was a lot of information in his presentation. You can find links to much of this information on the BC government's Provincial Emergency Program website. This is definitely worth checking out. There are lots of things on this website to consider for the safety of your family. In particular, click on "Planning and Mitigation" in the blue toolbar on the left of the screen. Then click on "Hazard Preparedness" at the bottom of the page. Finally, click on "General Preparedness". Or, just click here to get you to the same place.

Aaron also recommends a federal government website for other information. It can be found by clicking here.
